Simple Yellow Dress

Yellow dress con fondo

This is such a simple dress, but I love it. The fabric is an unusual kind of silk with a little bit of a pearl/metallic finish. I also got it in Vietnam. It was handmade by the most charming little lady. I told her that I liked the fabric and she made me try it on. It was too small on my hips but she said NO PROBLEM, I'LL FIX IT! She did fix it and here I am wearing it many years later. I will never forget that lady, what a personality! She was so positive and her smile was so authentic. It is hard to forget a beautiful smile like that. I hope that she is selling lots of dresses in these days :)

The Color of Mystery

WONDERFUL COLOR con fondo

This is one of the most mysterious colors that I have ever seen. I found this beautiful handmade dress in Vietnam many years ago, just after Bill and I meet. We were at the very beginning of our relationship. Bill and I knew that we had a lot in common but we had no idea about what was going to happen after our Vietnam time. Back then it was all a mystery to us. And here we're now, married and happy. I want Bill to have a very long life, he is 12 years older than me, which means that by the time I am 90 he is going to be 102 :) It is impossible to know how many years we're going to live but all I can say is that I am forever grateful for having this man in my life.

(See what a color can make you think about :)

Tights :)

Yellow dress and tights

I never worn tights in Cuba. An accessory like that in the sunny (burning hot) island, is as appropriate as a sundress in the North Pole :) But I discovered them in my first trip to Italy when I was 23 years old. I normally have a hard time finding tights that I really like. Most of the materials used for making them are uncomfortable to me, but I found these ones the other day and I'm in love, I got them in different colors. The material is so soft and flexible plus the finish is opaque as you can see and I love that too. I am looking forward to wearing the other colors. Sometimes they're the perfect touch to complete an outfit :)

Elsita Goes Back to Elementary School :)

Blue skirt con fondo

I'm going back to school and this is going to be my uniform. Yay! I am on the third grade now :o Well, the truth is that Natalie is coming back from Australia today with her Grandma, they were so lucky to spend the last two weeks over there with Bill. I want to welcome the girls with this silly outfit. Natalie loves it when I dress up like a little girl. I miss my princess so much! This is the longest time that she has been away from me since her birth.

Aqua Dress

Acqua con fondo

The fact that I can wear this sweet aqua dress now means a lot to me. I got this piece before I became pregnant with Natalie and I only wore it a few times. After I had Natalie and then Diego, this little dress ended up in a bag with some other dresses. I patiently waited and waited to be able to fit into them again and It took me 6 years to do so. It also took me lots of "brain work" to be myself again. It has been an important and difficult journey and the journey continues, but this time I am the captain of my own ship and I a going with a smile on my face :)

Belt Love :)

Pants con fondo

This new belt is so perfect, it was love at first sight. As soon as I saw it I knew that it was going to be part of my life. Right here you can see him making my top and pants get along very well. Also, notice how he sends little kisses to my shoes down there, they like each other from the distance because they have a lot in common. Dear accessories, thank you so much for the little magic :) Life is a lot more interesting when you're part of it :)  xo xo xo

Brazilian Hair Straightening :)

Green con fondo

Would you like to see what Brazilian Hair Straightening is? : PLAY VIDEO

My Little Review:

1. Why I love it: My hair feels silky, smooth and it looks really shinny. Plus this treatment is natural and not permanent, over the next 2 to 4 months it will slowly go back from straight to wavy to curly again. What a treat! I can't wait to enjoy my different hair "seasons" over the next few months.

2. It took 3 hours (in my case) to complete the whole process, but it could take longer depending on your kind of hair and length.

3. Keep your eyes closed when the Keratin product is being applied to your hair. You don't want it to get into your eyes.

4. The Keratin product comes in different "tastes", mine was chocolate :)

5. Don't worry if you suddenly smell something like pancakes or waffles, it is just the smoke on top of your head. Expect lots of smoke around your head when the Keratin product is being sealed with the flat iron.

6. After the keratin product has been applied you can open your eyes and start reading your magazines or books. Make sure that you have a large selection of them :o

7. Do use those little ear protector that you see in the video, you don't want your ears to get burn with the hair drier or flat iron.

8. Relax, enjoy it and don't forget to eat a nice snack before heading to the saloon, your stomach will be forever grateful.

9. DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR FOR AT LEAST 3 DAYS after the treatment, if you want it to last longer. Wrap your hair with a towel when taking a shower.

10. The price depends on your particular kind or hair and length and it will be given to you upon consultation.

Special thanks to Jovan, my wonderful hair stylist. He went to medical school (his family wanted him to do so) but he decided to quit and become a hair stylist because that was his dream. Yay for people who dare to follow their dreams! Now Jovan is happy making people like me smile :)

My Friend's Wedding Dress

Here I am wearing my friend's wedding dress. I went to visit Maiz the other day because I couldn't wait to see her little newborn's tiny toes in person and I left her home with this beautiful dress and the promise of taking a picture of it with myself as a model for this blog. I felt really honored to wear my friend's dress for this picture. Bill and I never had a "real" wedding when we got married, we have been thinking about doing something special with relatives and friends for our 10th anniversary and this dress is definitely a wonderful inspiration for the dress that I going to design for myself in the future.

Maiz dress

Spending time with my friend was such a treat. We both have busy lives (she has 3 children in total) I adore Maiz because she is just so real, easy, transparent, beautiful, talented, smart and such a great Mom. I feel lucky to have her in my life :)

I hope that you like the picture Maiz!!!

The designer of this unique dress (made out of cotton fabric) is: Julia. The name of her label is also JULIA. Julia is an extremely talented designer, recognized for her unique voice and talent.
