Dear friend,
I am so excited about sharing this piece with you. I am creating a small series of paintings for a solo show in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The opening will take place on December 10th of this year (2009) This is going to be my last show before I take a long brake from my gallery life.
I am working late at night and I love it because it's so quiet in my studio. After an intense day being a busy Mom there is nothing better than giving myself a little bit of solo time :)
The name of the show will be The Hidden Seed, which is the name of this blog dedicated self-expression and personal style. That's why I will be posting these paintings here :)
These paintings will be about the reasons that made me start The Hidden Seed blog. Each piece explore ideas like self-esteem, emotional growth, self-confidence etc.
The title of his first painting is: Silent Tree.
A little girl looking into the mystery of life (tree) with her big eyes. Little girls (as well as little boys) see lots of things that they can't even name with words. Do you remember when you were a child? Remember when you noticed things that adults didn't imagine that you could understand? That happens because children develop that special 6th sense that we often hear about.
What you just read are some of the ideas that were in my mind when I was painting this piece. I would love to hear your opinion about that special 6th sense and children or about anything that comes to mind...
Lots of love!
Elsita :)

Love the picture and idea behind it.
As an elementary teacher I completely understand what you are talking about. I have seen situations where my heart breaks because kids understand so much more than their parents think they do. Sometimes they even get it while their parents don't. I have been working as a teacher for 20 years and times have definitely changed. Children today are much more cognizant of things at an earlier age. It makes me worry about what the next generation of children will notice.

I love the little girl's eyes, the expression and the shading around them...they have surreal feeling...I read both of your blogs and love your artwork! I live in PR. What a treat to get to see your artwork here! Where are you showing? I hope to get to see it! Thanks for sharing!

Your painting is absolutely beautiful. Her face is so enchanting and sweet, and I really love the colors and textures you incorporated into this amazing piece. Best of luck at your gallery show.

Lovely lovely painting.
My 2 boys both saw so much when they were little boys and I encouraged them to tell me their truth. They are my teachers.

I don't really remember having any special knowledge as a child, but I sure I must have. As a mother, I see it in my own children. My boy especially, can pick up on my moods, even when I think I am doing a good job at disguising it!
Love the new painting! I have creative time in the evenings after my kids are in bed, too. It's the best, and so important to my happiness that I call it my "sanity time."

I remember back in the sixties when very traumatic things happened to our family and to me personally but they were very quickly brushed under the carpet and never, ever spoken about. I think it was quite common then to white wash painful things instead of how things are done now in my own family where we talk about them, understand them and try to find solutions together.
