Let's start with a couple of definitions:
A miniature book is a very small book, sized from .5 inches square to roughly 2 by 3 inches—no larger than 3 inches in height, width or thickness. These books became more popular in the last few decades of the 19th century because they were portable and easy to conceal. One could carry a vast number of books in a small case for when one travelled. (From Wikipedia)
Artists' books are works of art realized in the form of a book. They are often published in small editions, though sometimes they are produced as one-of-a-kind objects referred to as "uniques". As Stephen Bury said: "Artists' books are books or book-like objects over the final appearance of which an artist has had a high degree of control; where the book is intended as a work of art in itself." (From Wikipedia)
This blog focuses on miniature artists' books, which is a blend of the two concepts above. But we will also have some special space for traditional miniature books as well as for for non-miniature artist's books.
The main idea behind this blog is to inspire you. The intimacy of a miniature object, together with the art of telling stories and communicating ideas, makes of miniature artists' books an amazing medium to express ourselves creatively.
Please, join me in this exciting exploration through an art form that deserves more attention. I hope that you enjoy this place, but most importantly, that you feel inspired to create and share your own unique treasures with us.
Thank you so much for visiting and see you later!
Elsita :)

Wendy:
I would love to post tutorials at some point.
Tell your daughter that there are great books out there about how to make miniature books.
Most of them are found on Amazon.
But in the end there are no rules, it's all about coming out with ideas.
Anything could be turned into a miniature book.

this is amazing!! i'm completely blown away! this reminds me of seeing the miniature books that the bronte sisters wrote as children {at the haworth parsonage where they grew up in england}...their books were not as elaborate, but just as fascinating due to their size.

so happy the little miniature artist cat book is out of the bag so to speak!!!!!!
This is going to to be, no it already is the most magical of places. I think i might just need to back up my tiny little suitcase and come to live in that library with the elephants. Do you think they would mind if I brought a few bibliophile snails with me. I would love a small print of that elephants reading tiny books picture if you are ever thinking of making some for your etsy shop. xxoo

Those who left the country for their own sake and adopted foreign passport are not the nation lovers. How could they be crowned?
