Another Felt Necklace :)

Aqua_necklace

And here is another felt necklace! I cut them (the green and this one) in one single piece of felt and then I placed the flowers on top. The possibilities with felt are unlimited, you just need to take a piece of it and get familiar with the personality of this material which is so warm and friendly; you can sew it, bend it, shape it with hot glue, paint on it with markers, cut it in one million ways, embroider it, combine it with beads and other kinds of fabrics...I wish that I had lots of time to create hundreds of designs out of felt!!! These two necklaces will be in my Etsy store soon! :) And now I have to get ready because today Diego has his speech therapy!
See you soon!
Elsita :)

notes:

Dear Marta, it's great that you got the Lanvin book! Isn't it wonderful!

Caballo necklace.

Caballo
I like to make pieces of jewelry that are inusual. I started learning how to make jewelry a couple of years ago and anytime when I have a chance I like to make something new. Here I will show you some of them from my jewelry box. Well, I don't really have a jewelry box, I just hang them from nails in my closet. I made this necklace out of PMC (the horse), sterling silver (the bigger chain and the branch on the right), antiqued gold filled (the fine chain) and a brass vintage branch that I found at a flea market. There is also the two tiny zafires, an antique crystal bead and two aquamarine stones.

Where did the gold go?

Cadenita
This is a delicate necklace that I like to wear. It is very simple and I made it out of 18k gold. It is the only piece that I have made out of 18k gold. The material is too expensive for me to play with it. Sometimes I think about how when the Indians were still living in Cuba before the conquistadores arrived gold was easily found in the rivers, they just had to get a basket and pick it up. If I could do that now I would go to one of my favorite rivers in Holguin (where I was born) and I would bring a whole bag of gold to experiment with. Gold is such an amazing metal to work with, I like it very much.

Wire bracelet

Brazalete
This is one of the first pieces of jewelry that I created. It is a bracelet made out of gold filled wire and some crystals. I wear it once in a while. I still remember how I destroyed my hands making it!. Sometimes it is painful to make things the way you want :)

The Jungle.

Jungle

I made this necklace out of antiqued sterling silver and gold filled. I also used some crystals. I named it The Jungle. We went to the Oscars last year because my husband and some friends were celebrating the nomination of their movies Little Miss Sunshine and United 93 and I wanted to make something special for the occasion. I tell my husband that Hollywood is like a jungle because it is the industry of egos and that was the inspiration for this necklace. After the fantasy that the Oscars are was gone I still had the jungle around my neck and now it is in my closet reminding me of that night. Little Miss Sunshine and United 93 didn't win the best picture award but they are still in my heart. I love those two movies. And I haven't worn the jungle again but it is here for you to see it.
