Great News!

Last night when I was ready to go home from my studio I got the most exciting e-mail from someone that I admire so much and her name is MEGAN AUMAN. I am sure that many of you are already familiar with her work. She offered me one of her necklaces to wear with my outfit to the Golden Globes and this was the most beautiful and unexpected surprise, I couldn't be happier. The first time that I saw her creations I just fell in love with them. Her pieces have an organic quality that I find so appealing. Ever since I discovered her jewelry I have wanted to own one of her pieces and now I will be wearing one of her necklaces to the Golden Globes! Isn’t that wonderful? I think that her style will be just perfect to complete the look with the outfit and the purse. I can’t wait to see the necklace in person! I am so honored to wear something made by such a talented fellow Artist from Etsy! Thank you so much Megan for your generosity!!!!
And I wil back tomorrow with a great book that Bill just got for me. It is basically a compilation of one hundred portraits of people that I am fascinated with. You will be surprised to know who they are!

Good-Bye And Hello.

For_blog

This is my last illustration and the title is Good-Bye And Hello. GOOD-BYE to the past and HELLO to the future. The beginning of a new year is always a good time for re-inventing ourselves once again. As much as we don't like it there is always the shadow of bad experiences from the past keeping us from doing what we have to do today for our future. It is impossible to go though life without experiencing some kind of pain. As human beings we are fragile and vulnerable and even the tiniest thing can make us feel bad. But my philosophy is that we just say good-bye to those bad experiences and feelings in order to welcome all the good things that are still to come. 2007 has been a hard year for me and I am more than ready to welcome 2008. I had to make this illustration to remind myself that as hard as things can get there is always the future and I am looking forward to it. I really wish you to have a very positive mind in 2008. December will go fast and January is almost there. Time is precious and we are still alive so we can consider ourselves lucky!
See you tomorrow!

I just wanted to show you the last illustration that I finished for my store! The title is: The Reader. This little girl likes to read a lot and as a result of it she is never alone; she has many imaginary friends who like to go everywhere with her! See you tomorrow!

Ideas are Everywhere!

Flor_y_pajaro_1

Ideas are like little birds and wild flowers; they are always out there flying around or growing in unexpected places. Potential good ideas are everywhere in the things that we see, smell, hear, taste or touch, and they come to life through our personal experiences. This little girl knows that and that's why she has her eyes wide open so she doesn't miss what life has to offer. My daughter Natalie inspired this little girl. When we go out with her she sees so many things that the rest of us can't see. She sees every single cat hiding around, the tiny flowers growing by the sidewalk, she notices peoples faces and asks about their expressions, she sees the clouds and their shapes...I love going out with her! After we come back home she starts drawing and I am always amazed by her new ideas. She is one of my best sources of inspirations :)

Heart and Brain.

Heart_and_brain

This little drawing that I just finished is about how we make decisions. I think that when we are very young our heart is the king and he decides most of the things that we do. Then as we grow up and get more mature and experienced we start using more our brain. The perfect thing would be to find some equilibrium between the two of them but in the end the search for equilibrium is the very essence of human nature. That’s what we try to do everyday with every decision that we make.

New Tiny Drawing.

Girl_and_doll

I finished another tiny drawing for Etsy! This one is about a little girl with her doll. They love each other. But there is more than that. Look at the girl's eyes; she is in love with the boy the lives next door. She is very alert looking around just in case he shows up. I was remembering the first time when I "fell in love" I think that I was about eight. The boy was a neighbor and he had beautiful green eyes. All I wanted was to see him but I didn't want him to know that I was in love with him. The good news is that he was also "in love" with me. I found out through a mutual friend (he told her). I still think that nothing compares to falling in love, you see everything so differently and perfect and beautiful.

Shopping for Dinner.

Conejito_y_mano

Look at the little rabbit that I draw. He went to the supermarket and got a big carrot for dinner and then his friend the little Pajarito is telling him: You are such a good husband. Your wife must be really proud of you!
The end :)

(And after dinner he is going to my Etsy store!)

Lulu.

Dayami

This little girl is a total mystery to me. I named her Lulu, she just showed up in my studio yesterday. She makes me smile and I don’t know exactly why (maybe her big curious eyes, her haircut or her tiny bow). She carries a little friend named Alonso. I don’t know if she is from the past from the present or from the future. I don’t know how old she is or why she is here. But there is one thing that I know for sure and that is: I am so happy that I got to meet her through this painting! Bienvenida Lulu! Welcome Lulu!

I think that I will keep the original. I really want to frame it and keep it in my studio. I think that Lulu will be a good friend. (But for sure I will list the print on my Etsy store so I can share her a little bit with you).
