Pumpkin Head and Perrito :)

Mister Pumpkin Head bought a little dog the other day in order to have some company. Perrito, (which is the doggy's name) is a wonderful friend already. Pumpkin Head and Perrito go everywhere together and for Halloween they are planning to wear some fun costumes! It is only July but they need to start planning everything right away since they want to make the costumes themselves. Today they are going to buy a sewing machine! Perrito is sooo excited! But first Mister Pumpkin Head has to go to work, he sells organic vegetables at the local Farmer's Market and his business is doing pretty well. Yay!!!

Pins and Black and White Prints!

And today I want to show you two things that I made with the images of my papercuts:

Number one: The pins! I made 6 pins out of shrink plastic and stiffened felt using one of the images of my papercuts! From the 6 pins I made one for me (see the photo above, I haven't stopped wearing it!) 4 for my Etsy store (I will list them soon) and the 6th one I gave it to a sweet girl in a store; she said that she loved it, so I gave it to her. Yaaaay for all the girls that are not afraid of starting a conversation with another girl who is wearing a black and white pin!!! She was really happy!

And number two: The prints! Below you will see how I turned my papercuts into black and white prints. I got several requests about doing this for my Etsy store so I did it and I am sooo happy with how they look! I am going to frame them for Natalie's room. My favorite thing about these prints is that the black ink is so concentrated on the paper that it looks almost like velvet!

And now let me tell you a little secret: The photo that you saw of me wearing the pin was taken by Bill for some magazine that will come out soon. I will be in this magazine with an interview plus pictures of new paper sculptures that I made specially for the publication. I will let you know as soon as the magazine is out! The Boy-Car! :)

The other day before I took Natalie to school I had to put some gas in my car because the tank was almost empty but then we kept going. I noticed that Natalie was so quiet, she normally likes to sing or talk as I drive. So after a few minutes of silence she says:: Mommy, Diego is not a car right? And I responded: Of course he is not a car, he is your little brother, why do you ask me that sweetie? And she said: you know Mommy, because the other day you said that Diego had some gas! But he is not a car right? That was SO FUNNY!!! We both started laughing so much but the best part is that she was serious about her question. I just love it when Natalie comes out with the most unexpected questions! That's the best part about children!

And later I just had to draw these pictures to illustrate the idea of Diego the Boy-Car!

Edilberto the Chef :)

This is what wikipedia says:
"A chef is a person who cooks professionally".

After reading this definition we can say that Mister Edilberto is a Chef. He is not a person but he is a smart rabbit which makes him almost a person. Add to that the fact that Edilberto won't leave home without his hat, that makes him a professional. He created a recipe that nobody has been able to duplicate so far and we are talking about the Horizontal Carrot a la Fork. I asked him to give me a clue about how he elaborates this dish in order to share it with you, but he won't do it. A serious Chef do not share his cooking secrets with anybody unless you are his wife so I decided not to insist.

Let's just say a big HELLO and GOOD-BYE to Mister Edilberto because he has to go back to the kitchen! Thank you Mister Edilberto for your breve appeareance in my blog today!

GIVEAWAY: A tiny painting :)

The little girl in the picture is Manuela and she has a little cat named Juanita. Juanita always falls asleep on Manuela's head then Manuela has to walk carefully so Juanita doesn't wake up. All I can say is that Juanita needs lots of attention and she is lucky to have Manuela in her life :) Yay!

But I feel like I am somewhere between 17 and 23, not less and not more!

Young forever!!!!!

An old neighbor of mine from the time when I lived in Cuba used to say: Oh, if I were just 60! How many things I would do! He was over 90 by the time he said that. Every year on my birthday I remember him because he was someone who celebrated life every single day and I have been trying to learn that lesson from him.

And going to the gift department: I drew these fancy dogs as a self-present because they make me smile! These doggies are all over 10 years old but they still feel like puppies! But the best present eeeever today is that my super busy husband is taking the day off from work to spend time with me!!!!. HOW COOL IS THAT? Thank you Billy!!! When he told me that yesterday I started literally jumping like Natalie does when she is happy. And then tonight Bill and I will have a special dinner at my favorite restaurant not far from our home. I am sure that today is going to be one of those perfect days where everybody is happy.

Mushroom Girl.

And today I want to finish this week with Mushroom Girl, a piece dedicated to all the girls that daydream. She says that when life gets too hard you can always reinvent everything in your imagination and make a special world for yourself to live in. I try to follow her advice as often as possible :)

We are going to have a great weekend with the kids, one of the things that we are going to do is going to a birthday party! We love birthday parties for little ones and grown ups too. But this one is for a little girl who is Natalie's friend. I will see you on Monday with something that I think you are going to enjoy!
