I know that this year will be a very creative one for me. I feel so extremely inspired. 2011 was full of experiences that shaked my world entirely. Bill's dangerous fall from 20 feet in Malaysia, my brother's battle with cancer (he's cancer free now), losing my friend Debra... Each one of these events brought lots of perspective into my life. They all reminded me of how fragile we are. We need to do what we want to do now, today. Life is precious.
I feel so lucky to be alive. I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face. This permanent state of happiness fills my mind with ideas, it makes me want to build things with my hands. I want to give shape to my feelings. I need to release all this life energy through my art.
One of the materials that I will be taking to a new level this year is paper. The simple but at the same time versatile nature of paper reminds me of a child. Children have the potential to become anything they want if we help them connect with their unique nature. I want to help my paper world expand its vocabulary. I can't wait! In the 3 last pictures of this post you can see some experimentations. They're not finished works but small elements that I will be using in larger pieces.
The first photo of this post is a collection of tiny sculptures that I made inspired by nature. The materials used: paperclay, acrylic paint and satin varnish.
Nature will be the main element in my art this year. Not only the kind of nature that we see with our eyes, but the one that lives inside our soul and our heart. This year I want to celebrate life and art and creativity by staying connected with the most deep aspects of nature.
Thanks a lot my friend for being out there! I can't wait to share my creations with you :)

Mother Nature will give us all we need and our job is to receive and pass it on together with our energy.

i am so excited to see 2012 in your hands , heart and soul.
I had a discussion with my sister about you on the weekend
she doesn't think you are "real" in that you are super talented and creative and productive
I say that you are more ""real" than we can imagine because you have learned to tap into those areas
of our brain that for most of us lie dormant.
We all have this potential but few of us ever tap into it.

I especially love the beautiful life-red in the insides of your objects, the way they merge together plant-nature and the flesh. They almost stop time, I think.

Me encantan tus nuevas incursiones creativas, pero de todo el balance positivo que comentas, lo que mas me alegra es que tu hermano este curado.
