kWe're now experiencing something totally new between Natalie and Diego: sibling rivalry. Some of this rivalry/competition is happening in such a funny way :) Here is a little story to illustrate this:
Above you can see how Natalie drew her version of the girl in one of her favorite books. She came running to show it to me saying: Mommy!!! Look what I did!! Of course, I praised her and she was very happy and proud.
hh
Diego observed everything with a quiet presence but then, in one second, he run away! I wondered what he was up to.
He came back to me a few minutes later holding the drawing above plus the cover of one of his favorite DVD's and he said, just like Natalie: Mommy!! Look what I did!!!
I praised him the same way that I praised Natalie and he was so proud!
Yay!!!! For the first time Diego is feeling like competing with Natalie and that says a lot about his brain development. As simple as this looks it's a pretty sophisticated thing for child with Autism.
In the end I don't want them to be rivals of course. But I am sure that that will never be a real problem in the future. Because they absolutely love each other.
:)

Oh this is so sweet. This kind of rivalty is helping them to develope their creative skills even more.
Have a lovely day, I enjoyed the moment of reading your post.

I truly enjoy reading about the progress Diego's making. Bravo!
I far prefer Natalie's version of the title character. It has personality and expression!

I always love seeing Natalie's artwork and bravo Diego! Now we will be delighted with artwork from both of them! Diego's progress is wonderful! and Natalie should be so proud that even though Diego kind of did what she did - he went and chose his own work! Yeah to each of them! And to their wonderful parents- cause none of it would be possible without the love and support you and Bill give to each of them!

A charming rivalry.
Diego may benefit from these art opportunities my son has mild autism, and has proven to be a gifted artist.

Natalie's drawing is so much better than the one she copied. The face she drew is so much cuter and more expressive! Your praise and approval means so much to them, doesn't it? This story really shows how Diego's self-awareness is developing and how he is recognizing his place in the world!

Tienes unos hijos preciosos. No te preocupes por la rivalidad: pronto dejarán de ser rivales entre ellos para dedicarse a hacerte sombra a ti... Maravillosos dibujos!!!
