Treasures from the flea market! :)
Bill and I are flea market fanatics. Before we had the kids we used to go to the flea market all the time but then we had to stop because it is hard with the children. But the other day we decided to try again and the children were just fine plus we were sooo lucky! Take a look at the treasures that we found:
This wonderful authentic japanese doll for $25 :)
This little sweater for $7
Old stamps for $15 :)
And my favorite! THIS LABORATORY KIT!!!!
One of the jobs that my Mom had when I was growing up was at a hospital (she wasn't one of the Doctors but an Auxiliar de Limpieza, as they say in Cuba, which is basically the person who keeps the place nice and clean :) She had access to a laboratory, that I never got to see in person but she always brought me all these little bottles etc. from over there and I dreamed about having my own laboratory. In fact I created my own primitive laboratory in our backyard and I used to prepare the most crazy mixes with water and other elements from the kitchen. My ultimate dream was to have a microscope because we had one at school and I just thought that it was pure magic seeing all those little things that the human eye cannot see. It took me all these years to get my own microscope!!! Can you believe it?? You can see it up there in the picture. I can't wait to continue my old experiments!
Now I have to go but I hope to be back tomorrow with the secret formula for the eternal life!
Have a great day!
Dr. Elsita :)

Oooh Elsita, what lovely finds! I'm particularly enamored of your lab set - have a good look at a lavender flower (whole, then pull apart all the 'bits') under the scope - doing so changed my life forever, and now I am completely hooked! You'll imagine what an awesome little world your lovely 'flower people' see every day!

Holy moley! You did well! I don't know which one I like best -- with each one I oohed and aaahed as I scrolled down. My mum is a microbiologist, so I grew up looking at stuff under the microscope -- fascinating. I can't wait to show my girls the little building blocks from which all living things are made.

That little microscope is the best! I work in a hospital laboratory and, sadly, there is very little of the mixing and such, but there is plenty of microscope viewing. What great treasures you have found!

Just picture it Dr elsita and Dr margie in the laboratory conducting experiments. I am sure if we put both our minds together we could certainly find the key to everlasting life or at least cure cancer. Our laboratory has to be located in a beautiful forest so we could conduct field work and take walks together discussing our theories. For now I have lots of glass slides and slide covers if you need any !!!

Flea markets are the greatest! Aren't they? You just never know what treasures you can come home with. And you feel so good because you are also recycling in a way! It is all just so cool! Great finds!

What a great stamp set!! I love flea market finds :o) My favorite find was a brownie box camera by the Eastman Kodak company....actually, that reminds me, I have no idea where it is right now... hmm. Maybe in storage somewhere. Enjoy your treasures, and let me know of any research progress you make! xox, Linnea

OH, the STAMPS!!!! They're wonderfuuuul!
But I have to comment on the laboratory story you told us, because I have a similar experience growing up.
My dad even bought me a tiny microscope when I was little, and it was the best gift ever!
The thing is, I grow up to be a Geologist, and I work in a lab!!, with that tiny bottles and small weird things that I loved when I was little.
