Frida Kahlo's Studio.

I made this miniature dollhouse for my daughter because I wanted her to learn about Frida Kahlo. This was such a fun project to make. It took me months to complete it but I am glad that I did it. Natalie loves it and once in a while we play with it on the kitchen table. She likes anything that is tiny just like her Mom. Next year I want to finish another dollhouse for her that I started last year but this one is bigger.

Wow, this is absolutely stunning! What a lucky daughter - and a beautiful way to learn about Frida Kahlo!

This is so incredible! I can't get over all the little details, it's fantastic!

It's wonderful. I'm really enjoying seeing your work. Congratulations on your show opening. You are an inspiration.

What a great doll house. I used to make little doll houses out of shoe boxes when I was a girl. I haven't thought about it in years, but seeing your house has makes me think I should give it another go. If you don't mind me asking did you make the Frida out of polymer clay? Does it hold up with gentle play?

Elsa! This is so utterly stunning...is there no end to your talents? Congratulations on the show as well, it looks absolutely brilliant, i'm enjoying the descriptions of each of the pieces!

This is so beautiful. I am teary with goosebumps.

Que maravilla! This past May I visited many of Frida's old haunts down in Mexico City, including her home. This is such a magnificent way for your daughter to learn about her!

Hola Shannon!
Yes I made Frida out of polymer clay painted with acrylic paint and so far she looks like the first day. I only used polymer clay for the upper body and the rest is fabric.
I think that she is about 5" tall.

Hello everyone!
I am so happy to know that you like this dollhouse!
Gracias!
Elsita :)

Elsita, this is beautiful. What a great way to teach your daughter about art! Looking forward to seeing Lizardo : )

Elsita,
Thank you so much for the information on Frida. Now I have no excuse to not get started on something!

How cool. My five-year-old daughter, Esther, is obsessed with Frida Kahlo. She randomly chose a written- for- kids book about her at a museum gift shop over a year ago, and I'm still reading it to her regularly. She recognizes her face everywhere and aspires to be a great artist. I can't even fathom how on earth you made that dollhouse but I'm afraid to show it to Esther because she will definitely want it.

If Esther is ever here in LA I would love her to come over and see Frida's little studio!
Maybe one day I will make a more simple version for my store, that would be nice!

Oh, my. This is one of the most intricate, wonderful things I have ever seen.

That is sensational.

Beautiful. Great work.

Wow. That is wonderful! My 9 year old daughter ADORES Frida. And when I start to homeschool her this winter, I think that this would be the perfect art/history/multi-cultural project for us to do together. Oh, thank you so much for this brilliant idea.

One question... did you make the doll or buy it?

Ooops. Sorry, just saw your comment about making the doll. Love it even more!

Hola Wendy!
I made the doll using polymer clay and fabric.
Elsita :)

What a magnificent gift to give a child and what a wonderful way to honor La Frida. This is so very inspiring.
