This is one of the last papercuts that I made in 2008 and it turns around a theme that I revisit over and over:
The balance between brain and heart.
I think that most of us are looking for that balance all the time.
But in the end that ideal place is hard to reach.
Because human nature tends to go to the extremes.
I think that what really matters in the end is the constant intention to find the center and not the center itself. It is the exercise of thinking and feeling what keeps us going. Let's leave our heart and brain have their own particular dynamic because together they are good at keeping us motivated and alive.
All these thoughts came from talking with my Mom, she is finally here from Florida giving me a hand. I am so happy to have her around, she always brings that sense of comfort that every daughter/son needs once in a while.
I wish you a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Elsita :)

WOW! This is amazing. It must have taken you so long to do! I would love to try doing some papercutting of my own!

Hola Margarita, I am so happy you have come to give Elsita a hand at this very busy time in her life. She has her hands busy with so many things and her heart and mind are always extending way out across the world to all of her very many friends. I hope you get a chance to be creative yourself this visit to LA.
The brids in this papercut girls brain are making my heart sing this morning and reminding me of warmer weather ahead.

How beautiful!
And I LOVE the quote:
"Those truly linked don't need correspondence. When they meet again after many years apart, Their friendship is as true as ever."
I am lucky to have a friend like that too, months get by and we don't see each other, but when we do, it's like we have never been apart!

I love the little nursing birds. How large is the paper the piece is mounted on? There's so much intricate detail I can imagine this piece being, like, 18" by 24", but after looking at your other work it's hard to say. Your ability to get all those details into an 8" by 10" piece of paper are pretty astounding.

A friend just pointed out your site to me. Your work is beyond fabulous. So beautiful and delicate. I would love to see some of your characters animated in film.

Your paper cuts are totally amazing! I used to do scherenschnitte ages ago but I'd forgotten about it. Makes me wonder where my little scissors are...

Thank you so very much for sharing El Corazon with me today. It was exactly what I needed as I was somewhat depressed and the experience of seeing every part of El Corazon brought me back to life. Your written expressions of description are wonderful and I encourage you to keep writing, creating, and sharing your gifts.

the best one for me it is the second one with the dove on its stomach. It is a great idea specially for the representation that peace is inside of everybody.
